Support Finno-Ugric peoples through creativity and solidarity

Right now, ethnocide of Finno-Ugric peoples is taking place in the Russian Federation. According to the UNESCO definition, ethnocide — is a form of genocide that does not involve the immediate physical destruction of a people, but is aimed at destroying their cultural identity.

Cultural identity — is a sense of belonging to a particular culture or group. It is formed on the basis of a common language, traditions, beliefs and norms passed down from generation to generation. It plays a key role in the formation of self-awareness and worldview.

Ethnocide

.

Ethnocide relies on:

Linguocide: deliberate destruction of language — banning the use of mother tongue, forced assimilation, removal of children from their linguistic environment.

Culturicide: destruction of cultural practices, symbols, values, and institutions through policy, colonization, and forced assimilation.

Ecocide: destruction of ecosystems, destruction of nature, without which traditional culture cannot exist.

Creativity as a form of resistance

If ethnocide destroys cultural identity, the antidote — is cultural resistance! Use your creativity — art, music, writing, or stories — to resist the erasure of Finno-Ugric peoples.

And use your creativity — art, music, writing, or stories — to resist the erasure of Finno-Ugric peoples.

When one side tries to silence us —
you can make our voices louder.

When one side buries our culture —
you can breathe life into it.

When one side buries our culture —
you can breathe life into it.

When one side hides its crimes against nature —
you can reveal the truth to the world.
